USA in the Gold Medal match of the 2008 Pan Am Cup

WINNIPEG, Canada, June 6, 2008.- USA defeated Dominican Republic for the access to the gold medal match. Republic Dominican will have a shot for the bronze medal. The sets were tight but USA won the three needed ones. Set scores were: 25-22, 32-30, 22-25, 25-23.

The whole game got the spectators holding their breath. Both teams were making spectacular plays and rallies were impressive. It was an exciting match but the young and tall USA players dominated the court.

USA Coach Alan Knipe declared: “It was really good for my team to get in a highly competitive and hardly fought game. We have not been playing together for a long time so it is good to be together in this situation. We lost the third set but made a great comeback and showed character to win the game. I am really excited about tomorrow.”

“ It was a fun game. We started playing better and better by the end of the match but it was too late. We are looking forward to the next game now!” commented the coach of the Dominican Republic, Jacinto Campechano.
